When we first see someone, we take the time to get to know them, to listen to what they would like to achieve, and to understand their difficulties, strengths and supports so that we can together plan for the best approach to treatment.
We work with adolescents and adults experiencing post-traumatic stress or other trauma-related mental health conditions. For many people, psychological trauma - including the experience of accidents, physical and sexual assault, disaster, war or other traumatic experiences – can result in persistent distress and relationship issues that get in the way of leading a fulfilling life.
Some psychological therapies for trauma-related mental health conditions are known to be more effective than others. Our treatment services are based on certain therapies that have been shown in clinical studies to work for most people. For example, trauma-focussed therapy is a practical and effective approach to help individuals with posttraumatic stress disorder come to terms with past traumatic experiences and to improve their day-to-day functioning.
Our goal is to work with each person and their supporters to relieve distress and improve coping in the shortest time possible. Length of treatment can vary based on individual issues and progress.
