Many practitioners working with clients presenting with trauma-related mental health conditions are looking for expert professional support to develop their confidence and skills in their work.
We offer individual and group-based consultation and supervision to mental health practitioners who provide treatment and support services to adolescent and adult clients with trauma-related mental health conditions.
We work with a range of practitioners including counsellors, social workers, mental health nurses, psychologists, psychiatrists and general practitioners.
Our goals in providing supervision are to understand the learning needs of a practitioner, and to support them to improve their abilities to provide rewarding and effective assessment and treatment services.
Our supervision services are always provided in a collaborative, professional and ethical manner.
Typically, supervision is provided in person or by telephone or Skype.
Practitioners may be able to claim Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits for supervision sessions.
Practitioners who have completed the 3-day PE therapy training program may elect to become an accredited PE therapist in accordance with the requirements of the Centre for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety, University of Pennsylvania.
Practitioners must complete one-on-one expert consultation (provided by an accredited consultant) with a minimum of two completed cases. Consultation includes 45-minute consultant review of taped session and 30-minute consultation with a practitioner on 24 therapy sessions provided.
Practitioners are required to tape all therapy sessions which are reviewed by the consultant prior to the next consultation. During the consultation call, the consultant’s review of the session is discussed, practitioner questions are answered, and the practitioner is prepared for the next session. Typically, files of taped sessions are shared with the consultant using Dropbox or another similar facility.
Upon successful completion, the consultant will recommend the practitioner for accreditation as a PE therapist.
“Thank you Darryl for sharing your knowledge and experience, I really valued learning from you.”
We provide supervision and consultation to mental health practitioners, including psychologists, counsellors, social workers, mental health nurses and general practitioners who provide treatment services to adult and adolescent clients with trauma-related mental health and PTSD conditions.
There are several benefits to therapist accreditation. It will help your clients for you to become proficient in PE therapy, and the training plus consultations will help you to develop as a therapist and mental health practitioner. In addition, the accreditation is formal recognition of your competence as a PE therapist that can be used in the promotion of your work and in dealings with community members, GPs and other referrers. Finally, your accreditation will be listed on the PE therapist directory here.
