Study published in 2017 in Behaviour Research and Therapy compared home-based telehealth versus in-person Prolonged Exposure therapy for US veterans with PTSD. The findings showed that telehealth PE was “as good as” in-person therapy in reducing PTSD symptoms at post-treatment, 3 and 6 months and in reducing depression symptoms at 6 months. The findings suggest that telehealth is an effective option to deliver evidence-based therapy for patients with PTSD.
