The effectiveness of currently available evidence-based therapies needs for PTSD related to childhood abuse needs to be further examined. This randomized controlled trial recently published in the European Journal of Psychotraumatology compared standard Prolonged Exposure (PE), intensified PE delivered in 4 weeks, and Skills Training in Affective and Interpersonal Regulation (STAIR) plus PE. All therapies resulted in large improvements in PTSD symptoms, with no significant differences among treatments. STAIR plus PE did not result in more improvement on emotion regulation, interpersonal problems and self-esteem.
